First Time Central Heating Scheme

A Government scheme has been created to fund the installation of central heating systems into homes that do not have, and have not previously had a central heating system. The scheme is designed to increase energy-efficiency, reduce heating bills and improve living conditions and well-being for people on low incomes.

Plumb-Line is an accredited installer for the First Time Central Heating Scheme as we have been independently assessed to ensure that we meet the high quality of service standards required. We’ll be installing mains gas central heating where a property has no heating, or is heated by solid fuel or electricity, for example: storage heaters, fan heaters, convectors or plug-in heaters, or stand-alone gas fires and wall heaters. Installation will include installing a new gas service to the property, where required, dependent on the proximity to the mains gas supply.

To qualify for the First Time Central Heating Scheme you must be either a home owner or a tenant in a privately rented home, which either has no heating or one of the above heating systems.

In most cases, the new central heating system will be completely free of charge to the home owner or tenant as you will qualify under ECO Flex Rules due to the nature of your existing heating system. However, you may also qualify if you receive one of the following state benefits:
  • Guaranteed Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income-Based Job Seeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer’s Allowance
  • Severe Disablement Allowance
  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
  • Child Benefit (subject to maximum household income thresholds)
  • War Pensions Mobility Allowance
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
In addition, your home must be well-insulated. You must have adequate loft insulation or, if it has cavity walls, you must have cavity wall insulation. If you don’t have sufficient insulation, you may qualify for a voucher to have it installed under the Green Homes Grant.

First Time Central Heating grants provide the funding to install the whole central heating system, which means the boiler plus radiators, pipework and heating controls as well as the installation.

We have also been contracted by local councils and housing associations to replace old, inefficient heating with new energy-efficient central heating systems for the tenants in their homes. Call us on 01604 644500 to find out more or request a quote.
