You can get a free gas boiler under a government-funded scheme in the UK.
If you’re on a low income (ie have a household income of less than £31,000 after tax) or receive certain benefits. Then you may qualify for the scheme. You can view the full list of benefits and further details here (link)
Whether you qualify for a free gas boiler also depends on the heating that you currently have in your home. For example you may have:
1. An old gas boiler
If your gas boiler was installed before 2005, then it’s likely to be a standard-efficiency non-condensing boiler. We can replace it free of charge with a brand new high-efficiency condensing gas boiler under a UK government energy efficiency scheme. This new type of boiler costs less to run and will be better at heating your home.
2. Warm Air Units
If your home is heated with warm air units and you live in an area that has mains gas, then we may be able to provide you with a brand new free gas boiler and free central heating system. This includes all radiators, pipework and heating controls.
3. Electric heating, storage heaters or no heating
If you live in an area that has a mains gas supply, but you don’t have a gas boiler, and have never had one, then you may qualify for a new free gas boiler and central heating system. This includes all radiators, pipework and heating controls.
The free gas boiler scheme is run by the government as part of the ECO4 (Energy Company Obligations) to reduce household fuel consumption. Households qualify by three criteria:
1. Household income or benefits received
2. Current type of heating
3. Current energy performance rating
Homes require an initial Energy Performance Rating of D, E, F or G. The installation of new heating measures and insulation aims to improve the Energy Performance Rating by two levels. If insulation is required, we can also install it free of charge to qualifying households.
